The article above appeared in the most-read newspaper in Spain, Madrid’s EL MUNDO. Friends who are missionaries in Spain sent me this iPhone photo. I didn’t talk to EL MUNDO so they must have pieced it together from some other publication. I went online to get the full text of the article. If you’ve ever tried google translate it can be an exercise in both frustration and humor. For example, the article says:
CLAIM: His reputation has also been damaged by the discovery that some of the over 100 videos posted on the internet are very edited to exaggerate their powers exorcist
FACT: Of course we edit the exorcisms on our YouTube channel. Viewers aren’t going to sit and watch an hour-long exorcism so we condense each example down to the most important moments for better viewing, not to “exaggerate” my “powers.”
CLAIM: Larson is creating a dynasty.
FACT: Really? So where is our multi-million dollar complex and massive staff of assistants or our radio and TV conglomerates? Yes, my oldest daughter, Brynne, and her two friends have garnered world renown for what they do, but that’s hardly a “dynasty.”
CLAIM: He says, “The aliens have come to conquer Earth.”
FACT: Now that is downright weird. Must have lost something in the translation.
CLAIM: BLM [Bob Larson Ministries] a company that, according to some reports, gives several million dollars in annual profits.
FACT: For the sake of the Gospel I wish, but their “report” is several million dollars off.
CLAIM: Everything is possession from nightmares to have homosexual tendencies. Knowledge to expel the demon do not require much theological depth.
FACT: I have never said that nightmares and homosexual tendencies indicate demonic possession. That is so ridiculous it doesn’t deserve comment. And whoever wrote this hasn’t studied the curriculum of our International School of Exorcism which isn’t lightweight theology.
Unfortunately, Spain today is a very godless country. Only 21% of the population ever goes to church, much lower than 31% in Italy and 46% in Ireland. I expect the Spanish press to make fun of what we do and care less about getting facts straight from a primary source. So, am I upset? Absolutely not. I praise God wherever we have the chance to let people know that Jesus saves and delivers. I let God sort out the facts. What the press means for evil God often uses for good. Sometimes it just makes people more curious. In recent days I have done Skype exorcisms on people in Italy, Scandinavia, India, Ireland, Australia, and many other countries. Scores have been set free because the secular press has told our story, even if they sometimes distort the facts. Remember how Jesus described his critics: For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, “Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.” Luke 7:33-34 NIV) As Jesus also said in Luke 6:26, Woe to you when all men speak well of you.
An encouraging word:Â CALL UPON THE LORD
“I will call upon the Lord . . . so shall I be saved from mine enemies” (Psalm 18:3). David’s confidence in being protected was not his armies, his wealth, or his power. It was his God. We all need saved from all kinds of enemies, evil people, tragic circumstances, physical diseases, financial challenges, and outright demonic attacks. Society says the government will save you or your cleverness will rescue you. Perhaps even your deception. But calling upon the Lord is the best way to stay safe from whatever enemies are tormenting your life.
