How to Tell a Demon to Leave

How do you tell a demon to leave? This question is based on several suppositions. First, the assumption that an individual receiving prayer ministry has displayed indisputable demonic behavior, some form of manifestation. Second, that whoever is praying with that person has the desire to banish the evil spirit. Is there a right way and a wrong way to attempt an exorcism? Yes, but before explaining the best approach to ridding an individual from a demon, let’s consider what not to do when confronted with demonic behavior.

Don’t adopt the approach that demons shouldn’t be allowed to speak. Demons are generally not going to be cast out, and kept out, unless the relevant curses in the life of the host are broken and the demon’s legal rights are removed. Our International School of Exorcism has detailed training on how best to approach this. We emphasize that some things which are necessary for a successful deliverance can only be known by demonic interrogation. It’s what the demons know concerning its root and right of entry that must be revealed. In addition, it is usually crucial to understand how the demon currently operates in the host. In most cases, this information can only be known by demanding that the manifesting demon reveal it. In the majority of cases involving demonic possession, the evil spirits can speak and should be made to speak. This is biblical, as explained in our School of Exorcism.

In most cases, the secret knowledge of curses and open doors of entry are not known by the deliverance minister. This is especially true when the facts are obscured by ancient history. But usually, demons know the exact origin of their inhabitation and how they are currently embedded. Get these vital facts by demanding disclosure in the name of Jesus. Once the demon’s legal rights and tormenting curses have been confirmed, here’s what to do next. Have the possessed person renounce these curses and legal rights. This is done verbally by the host and verbally ratified by the demon.

When it comes to the actual expulsion of the demon, I prefer a precise, time-tested protocol. Our School of Exorcism details this procedure. I almost always use the same, exact wording. Why? It works. It’s effective. It seals the deal. It contractually binds the demon to his own declaration of doom. Once that takes place, the battle is essentially over. Only the final expulsion remains. Others who do deliverance may differ and have their own technique, some quite exotic and often not biblical. For me, having the ruling spirit, the strong man, say, “I go to the pit,” is crucial and confirming.

After 50,000 successful, documented exorcisms, this formula satisfies the “how” of telling a demon to leave. Even the spurious Jewish exorcists of Acts 19:13 knew enough to declare, “We adjure you by Jesus.” They had seen Paul cast out demons in this manner. What Paul did, I do, and add to it modern vernacular to bring closure in the deliverance process. If you’re interested in deliverance, enroll in our School of Exorcism. Watch examples on our YouTube exorcism channel and get on with the task of setting people free by the power of Christ.

7 Things Demons Hate

Many Christians, even devout evangelicals, believe in a God that is warm and fuzzy, overlooking evil and turning a wry glance at spiritual rebellion. But the Bible sees sin differently. Here is how Proverbs 6:16-19 (NKJV) states God’s view of iniquity: These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

The Living Bible puts it in modern language:  haughtiness, lying, murdering, plotting evil, eagerness to do wrong, a false witness, sowing discord among brothers.

Demons also hate certain things, and here is a list of seven. Demons hate it when Christians . . .

#1 – Tithe, pray, fast, read their Bibles, and follow biblical disciplines.

All Bible believers know that these disciplines are part of normal Christian living. But how many who say they follow Christ are truly faithful in all these areas? Cutting corners on giving to the Lord’s work, failing to maintain a consistent prayer life, avoiding the uncomfortable practice of periodic fasting and failing to study God’s Word delights demons. If you want to make the devil mad, do these things.

#2 – Speak out against moral evil socially, politically, and personally. What good is a watchman on the wall if he doesn’t cry out when the enemy is approaching? Psalm 127:1 (NKJV) puts it this way: “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” I’m not speaking of a particular political party or an ideological mindset. I am talking about issues which all God-fearing folks should agree on, such as opposition to abortion, gang violence, real racism, pornography, human trafficking, child sexual abuse, as examples. To be silent is to be complicate with demons.

#3 – Take practical steps to meet the needs of those around them.

James 1:27 (NKJV) says, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” James 2:15-16 adds. “If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,’ but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?” Demons hate it when Christians are aware of the practical needs of the ordinary lives of those around them.

#4 – Take the promises of God seriously with their faith, finances, and personal decisions.

James 1:22 says, “Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” The practical ways in which Christians handle their faithful stewardship of faith and finances says much about how deep their convictions go. All the promises of God are conditioned upon our faithfulness in every walk of life. The devil banks on winning when we fail to walk the talk. Show your faith by your works. Put yourself in the position to prosper financially by being prudent and faithful with the resources God entrusts you with now. Make sound personal decisions guided by the advice and consent of wise counsel.

#5 – Understand and study spiritual warfare to fight back strategically against the devil.

Question: how many books on spiritual warfare have you read? I have written many. Have you read my books “Curse Breaking,” “Jezebel,” “How to Deal with Demons,” “Demon Proofing Prayers,” “Larson’s Book of Spiritual Warfare?” There are other mature Christian authors whose works you should devour. For example, I’ve had Pastor Vlad on Bob Larson Live and recommended his book “Fight Back.” I’ve interviewed Alexander Pagani and said you need to read his book “The Secrets to Deliverance.” Best of all, enroll in our School of Exorcism. Get facts to fight demons and win with strategic study of spiritual Warfare.

#6 – Submit yourself to personal inner healing and deliverance prayers.

You’re heard me say it many times, “Everyone needs deliverance.” Laura and I have prayed curse breaking and deliverance prayers over our three daughters. We pray over each other. I have submitted myself on occasion to receive prayer from mature men of God who oversee my life spiritually. Every pastor, preacher, teacher, worship leader, Sunday School teacher and Christian leader needs to have curses broken and spiritual oppression lifted by inner healing and Some even need demons cast out. No matter who you are, submit yourself for personal ministry. You’ll make demons go delirious.

#7 – Take the idea of demons seriously and do deliverance.

Doing deliverance is the best way to irritate the ire of demons. If you believe demons are real, act like it. Be courageous and do something to drive back devils. After you’ve gone through our School of Exorcism, get involved with one of our Do What Jesus Did (DWJD) teams. Ask if you can start a deliverance prayer team in your church. You don’t have to be perfect, but you do need training. Get it and get going. The more people we have casting out demons in a biblically responsible way the madder it will make demons.

Make the devil mad. Outrage the evil around you. Bring vexation on Satan for all the pain he’s put on you. Love what Jesus loves and do what demons hate. It one of the quickest ways I know

to grow your faith in the power of Christ. Remember the words of Jesus in John 15:19 (NKJV):
“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” Make demons hate you and Jesus will love you.

Antonio Brown’s Demons of Destruction

NFL star Antonio Brown, who until yesterday played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has been one of professional football’s top players. Unfortunately, his alleged criminal behavior and troubled life as a youth finally caught up with him. In the middle of the game, he ripped off much of his uniform and walked off the field. In doing so he left behind his multi-million-dollar salary and an extra potential $1 million in bonuses. In fact, at the peak of his career he was making $17 million a year!

After his antics yesterday he subsequently posted bizarre messages on social media. Why the meltdown? His Tampa Bay coach said that Brown was through with the team. Case closed. Tony Dungy, the great NFL coach and commentator, himself an outspoken Christian, said that no team should ever hire him until he gets help. But what kind of help? Is this just a case of emotional instability, possibly a bi-polar episode, or does Antonio Brown have demons? I suggest the latter, and I know what demons they are because I’ve dealt with them before: Sabotage and Destruction.

First, let’s look at Brown’s past. He was born to teenaged parents, likely illegitimate, which brings a curse as I’ve pointed out in my book “Curse Breaking.” In his youth he suffered homelessness and neglect. His dad was a star at football, but not at parenting. He kicked the young Antonio out of the house, leaving the youth to sleep on friends’ sofas. These friends belonged to a gang that controlled the area crack trade. Shootouts were common. His grades failed.

When his wayward father finally showed up in his during Antonio’s college football days, the young gridiron star walked away. But in the NFL, he bought a new Rolls Royce every year. He was stopped for speeding 55 mph over the limit. He played for the Pittsburg Steelers where he excelled. Then the Raiders who gave him a guaranteed $30 million bonus. He constantly ran afoul of league rules. Then he went to the Patriots for $24 million, until a former female trainer accused him of assault. He had met her at a Bible-study class while in college. On a personal level, Brown has fathered five children from different women. In 2002 her had a felony arrest warrant for battery and burglary.

Sabotage and Destruction. Those are the two demons I deal with in situations like this. Forget about the money and the exploits on the field. Brown, like many who hear me now, has a self-destruct switch that keeps flipping in the devil’s direction. The doors to these demons were opened by the abandonment and rejection he suffered at a young age. But Antonio Brown was exposed to the gospel. He had a chance to follow Christ. Sadly, he made a choice to give in to his impulses of personal annihilation. Don’t you make that mistake. You may not make the money that Brown did, but if you see things around you constantly imploding, you may have his same demons. Antonio Brown badly needs an exorcism. And if you, like him, find Sabotage and Destruction stalking you, we’re here to help. Schedule a personal encounter today before, like Antonio Brown, it’s too late.

Why Psychics are Demonic.

When Allison Dubois was 17, she heard a voice saying, “Move your bed.” She did. That night, a truck driven by a drunk woman crashed through her bedroom wall, right where her bed had been. There were also other times she heard a “voice” as a child, including her great-grandfather who sat at the edge of her bed when she was six-years-old. As an adult, this led to an interest in psychically solving crimes. Eventually, actor Kelsey Grammar (Frasier fame) asked her to do a TV show about her life. That project became the NBC’s series “Medium.” Best-selling books followed. Now Dubois is launching Dead University, a school for the psychically gifted. She teaches that when you’re dead you permanently revert to your happiest age. She declares that the afterlife is “beautiful and vibrant” and that the “heaven” of loved ones isn’t complete without us. Students of Dead U. are taught to continually connect with the departed and include them in their daily lives. All this is happening, right next door to us, so to speak, near our offices located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Deliverance and a psychic university in the same zip code.

What are the reasons people want to talk to the dead? They may be overwhelmed with grief by the recent passing of a loved one and seek assurance that the departed are all right. They may feel they need to get advice from someone who helped them while they were alive. Others seek unknown information about the present or future from the dead. They think the dead are on a higher spiritual plane with an advanced perspective. This is what King Saul did when he sought help from the dead prophet Samuel by consulting a witch, a psychic.  First Samuel 28:7 describes it this way: Then Saul said to his servants, “Find me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “In fact, there is a woman who is a medium at Endor” (NKJV).  That inquiry cost Saul his kingdom and his life. I Samuel 15:23 says, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has also rejected you from being king” (KJV).

There are other reasons some seek psychics. Those with malevolent intention may think that beings in another spiritual realm will help them to get revenge on someone. This is a form of black magic that operates at the highest level. Some who go to mediums follow a religious philosophy that teaches communication with ascended spiritual masters. Groups like the so-called “I Am” cult and the Great White Brotherhood consult with beings whom have gone to the afterlife and a more perfected existence. They are then supposedly able to help less evolved beings on earth

When the rich man suffering in hell asked to go back and warn his other family members still alive, Jesus taught that there was a “great chasm” between the living and the dead and neither can pass over to the other (Luke 16:26). In other words, seeing and talking to the dead is a farce, a sham, a scam. According to the Bible, Deuteronomy 18:9-12, such actions known as divination are forms of witchcraft forbidden by the Lord. Why? Because they replace trust in God and His Word with unverifiable messages from the dead. Messages that often directly contradict Scripture, as mentioned earlier in the teachings of Dead University. In short, if you could consult a psychic for information about how life is to be lived, why would you need the Bible and God as sources of supernatural information? Isaiah 8:19 (NIV) says, “When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?” So, if you’re even in the Phoenix, Arizona area, you have a choice. You can sign up for Dead University, and risk eternal damnation in Hell, or you can enroll in the International School of Exorcism and learn how to set people free from the deceiving demons of psychics.

10 Things that Demons Love

If I asked you to name things which demons hate, you’d likely have no problem making a quick list. It would likely include: the name of Jesus; the Word of God; prayer; fasting, etc. But are there things which demons love? Things which attract them instead of repel them. Knowing what demons love could give you a hit-list of what to avoid in your life on a practical basis. If you avoid what draws demons, you’ll most likely be better able to avoid spiritual oppression, even possession. Here are 10 things that demons love when they are looking for victims.

  1. Attitudinal negativity: People who seek deliverance with a pessimistic mindset, often don’t get free. Being a host of demons is one thing, being a victim is another. Most possession occurs because of ancestral sin, no fault of the recipient of demons. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. An attitude of negativity is therefore pleasing and attractive to the devil.
  2. Ambivalence about spiritual purpose: Demons are focused on destroying the destiny of an individual. If one is uncertain about his or her calling in life, evil spirits can more easily operate. Determination to find and fulfill one’s spiritual purpose is a bulwark against demonization.
  3. Lack of certitude regarding biblical doctrine: James 2:19 remind us that demons believe in God’s existence and tremble at the thought. If you aren’t convinced that the Bible is God’s infallible, only rule of faith, it’s unlikely you can be delivered. Any doubt about cardinal Christian doctrines, such as the virgin birth, the atonement of the cross, and the resurrection will draw the attention of demons.
  4. Equivocation regarding occult evil: I sometimes encounter people, even Christians, who aren’t so sure that acts of the occult are doorways to demons. They argue for reading their horoscopes. They insist on doing yoga. They see no harm in consulting energy healers. Demons love such an accommodating attitude. Ambiguity about practices the Bible calls witchcraft will thwart any effort to get free.
  5. Compromise regarding habits of holiness: Holiness means many things to many people. We’re not talking about legalism. The true piety that keeps demons away is virtue based on avoiding things that dominate one’s desires, time, and attention. A truly holy person won’t have time for things which open doors to the devil.
  6. Failure to overcome addictive impulses: One of the biggest open doors to demons is addiction. To be controlled by something that destroys mind and body is to open one’s life to demonic intrusion. Demons love it when a person overindulges in alcohol and experiments with psychoactive substances.
  7. Religious obsession about nonessential beliefs: An overly religious outlook is just as prone to demonic possession as living like a libertine. Demons are attracted to overly spiritual people who love the “weightier matters” of religious law, as pointed out by Jesus in Matthew 23:23. Demons hate it when Christians coalesce around spiritual truth rather than arguing about things of individual conviction. Demons love self-righteousness because it’s an easy hiding place.
  8. Bonded relationships with those opposing Christ: Demons love to see Christians hanging out regularly with the unsaved. Second Corinthians 6:14 speaks of being “unequally yoked” with someone not following Christ. Such soul connections may allow an individual to pick up demons from another person. Beware spiritually bonding with someone with feet that are “swift running to mischief” (Proverbs 6:18).
  9. Critical judgments of those in spiritual authority: Demons love it when Christian leaders are the object of ridicule, second-guessing, and outright subversion. The Jezebel spirit will inspire any person who makes a habit of running down pastors and those whom God has placed in spiritual authority. Remember, Satan is the “accuser of the brethren” (Revelation 12:10).
  10. Lack of addressing generational spiritual evil: Demons jump for joy when pastors deny the reality of bloodline curses and avoid any mention that renouncing evil ancestors is necessary for effective Christian living. You want to make the devil happy? Avoid declaring curse-breaking prayers.

It should be obvious that this list of ten things demons love could easily have been expanded to a hundred, even a thousand or more. Look introspectively at your own life and ask yourself, “What do demons love about the way I live?” Then take action to make what demons hate a regular part of your walk with the Lord.

Deliverance is Dangerous

“Deliverance is dangerous.” I don’t mean that it is life-threatening or dangerous to one’s health. I am warning that embracing all that deliverance stands for will bring a radical change in how you see God and how the Christian life is to be lived. One of the most dangerous statements every made was the call of Christ in Matthew 4:19 when he said, “Follow me.” What did that mean? It meant they would hear a radical message never-before preached in human history. In what ways is deliverance dangerous today?

1)      Deliverance will be dangerous to your spiritual apathy: Embracing all that deliverance stands for will bring a radical change in how you see God and how the Christian life is to be lived. Deliverance will be dangerous to your apathetic, underachieving, boring Christian life. It’s dangerous to your lowered expectations of what it means to be a Christian.

2)      Deliverance may be dangerous to your theological beliefs: You’ll need to drop the idea that Christians can’t be affected by curses. You’ll have to stop believing that Christians can’t have demons. You’ll be forced to embrace the concept that EVERYONE needs some measure of deliverance to walk in the fulfillment of God’s promises.

3)      Deliverance may be dangerous to your political beliefs: We live in an age when truth is turned upside down, meekness has become capitulation, and social media groupthink determines how people think and live. With COVID has come a form of mass mind control with an enforced sacrifice of individuality. Get delivered and you’ll find slogans like this are offensive: “Abortion is a medical right.”  “Abortion is Health Care.” With deliverance you’ll leave woke culture behind.

4)      Deliverance may be dangerous to how you view Satan and the supernatural: You won’t be able to do yoga, redistribute your energies, balance your chi with Qigong, consult your enneagram, or plan your day by the horoscope. You won’t be able to cast spells to get even with someone; you won’t be able to find God by meditating in a lotus position; you won’t be able to get what you want by the Law of Attraction.

God is calling you to a life of danger, on the edge, full of excitement and challenge, expecting the unexpected every day. I call you to a dangerous life of hope, opportunity, liberation, possibilities. Living on the edge of the next great miracle in your life. Leave behind a life of languor, malaise, frustration, tediousness, monotony, and humdrum routines behind. Embrace deliverance as way of life, constantly breaking free from the bondages of your ancestors, your predecessors, and your detractors.

Bob Larson Busts Ghostbusters: Afterlife

The fourth of the “Ghostbusters” series is here. Installments of the supernatural comedy were released on-screen in 1984, 1989, and 2016 (the all-female reboot). In 2021, 32 years after the original Vigo spirit (named after a barbaric Balkan ruler of the sixteenth century) was dispatched, the ghostbusters are back. This time the setting is Oklahoma, not New York City. Not only do the “winds come whistling down the plains” but this new setting experiences unusual earthquakes, due to the underground lair of the ancient Mesopotamian/Sumerian demon Gozer. In an old abandoned mine, the film’s protagonists discover a temple to Gozer. The female lead, 12-year-old Phoebe, ends up battling the demons herself, aided by the appearance of her dead grandfather, the original ghostbuster Egon Spengler. Gozer and his minions are eventually trapped, and Spengler disappears once again into the afterlife—who knows where, but definitely not heaven or hell.

Just fiction, you say? No big deal? If you are a Christian, are you okay with someone coming back from the dead to overcome evil? Do you think it is all right to posit the idea that light beams from a ghostbuster gun can overcome supernatural, evil spirits? And consider this. Not only does Spengler assist the final battle but earlier he’s seen as a ghost playing chess with his granddaughter. He also leads her to the ghostbuster gun he hid in his former life. To whitewash this occult comedy, a Christian would have to overlook the suggestion that communication with the dead, a capital crime in Old Testament times (Deuteronomy chapter 18), can be a positive, supernatural phenomenon. That’s blasphemy of the worst order.

Let’s be plain, here. Gods like Gozer are more than fictional remakes. They were, and are, real demon entities. You can’t trap a demon such as Gozer in a cave. Demons are immaterial spirit beings not confined to physical “ghost traps.” The dead can’t come back (Hebrews 9:27) because the dead are assigned by God to heaven or hell, not some intergalactic netherworld. Claiming to consort with the dead is deemed necromancy in the Bible, an evil the Old Testament calls an “abomination,” something utterly detestable, and atrocious which is cursed. And to have a man once dead return to fight an evil demon is an upside-down spiritual universe, evil fighting evil, a moral contradiction.

This movie is just one more way that Hollywood presents the occult as innocuous, even humorous. Since the original Ghostbusters film, an entire generation has been brainwashed to believe that the paranormal world is inhabited by dead beings who are sometimes friendly, even helpful. This movie makes a passing reference to Revelation 6:12, the opening of the sixth seal causing a great earthquake. But when that awful hour comes, no proton pack (the fictional energy-based ghost-capture device) will escape God’s wrath, more terrible than any doughboy demon. In that hour, Revelation 6:15 declares that both great and small will seek death to escape the wrath of God against all witchcraft and the occult. As verse 17 goes on the say, “For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” The answer is no one. Not even the ghostbusters.

What Catholic Exorcism Gets Wrong

Most people think of exorcism as it was portrayed by Catholic priests in the movie “The Exorcist.” What that film presented has little resemblance to a successful expulsion of demon spirits. Director William Friedkin used the device of priestly intervention, a stoic, ritualistic approach without concern for knowing the legal rights of the demon or examining the spiritual strongholds in the mind of the victim. Worst of all, the demon was extracted by having the evil spirit enter one of the priests, as if the prelate were acting sacrificially with some noble, selfless act. That was not a valid exorcism.

Are any Catholic exorcisms well founded? Most Protestant think not. Perhaps we should ask the question another way. Are all Pentecostal exorcisms valid? If by valid we mean that the exorcisms are psychologically sound, therapeutically helpful, and spiritually effective then the answer would be “no” to most Catholic and Pentecostal exorcisms. I see no empirical evidence that most non-Catholic exorcisms are more effective than those attempted by Catholics. However, since Catholic exorcism is the model most people recognize the real issue that this blog addresses is this: What’s wrong with Catholic exorcism?

Consider this historical fact. There was a time before the Reformers in the14th through 16th centuries when the Catholic Church was the only church. Only Catholics did exorcisms. In 1614 the first formalized system of exorcism was published as the Rituale Romanum. I have a 1633 hand copied edition of that volume. Without faithful priests throughout the centuries who fought demons, the ministry of exorcism might not exist. A debt of humble gratitude is owed to them by today’s deliverance ministers.

Having said this, I do have a problem with the Catholic Church’s approach to the reality of demon possession. It’s not the ritual itself which concerns me. I quote the Rituale Romanum extensively in our International School of Exorcism. My concern is that Catholic hierarchy takes the position that demonic possession is “rare.” Not true. In one day of virtual encounters, I do an average of four to six exorcisms, sometimes more. Demonic possession is not uncommon, it is quite common. Saying that demonic possession is rare allows Satan latitude to operate without reasonable expectation of his evil presence,

My second objection is the vetting process used by the Catholic Church. I understand the need for caution, but once a priest has been approached for help it can take months or years before anything is done. Meanwhile those with demons suffer. They cycle into despair and hopelessness waiting their turn for an exorcism. It’s true that too many self-styled, Protestant deliverance minister rush in too quickly to cast out demons without adequate analysis of the situation. Both approaches lack a reasonable, measured approach to battling demonic forces. That’s why we offer the School of Exorcism, Do What Jesus Did deliverance teams, and ministry associates who cast out demons, in addition to what I do. If demonization were truly rare there would be no need of a ministry such as we have. A small number of Catholic priests could take care of the problem. In short, Catholic exorcism is reactive, not proactive. It responds to the problem as it presents itself instead of also waging aggressive spiritual warfare by taking the battle directly to the enemy.

I am grateful for anyone who answers the call to cast out demons as Christ commanded. But be reminded that Second Timothy 2:15 admonishes, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (NKJV). The ultimate question isn’t whether the deliverance Is Catholic or Protestant, but whether it is based on the Bible. True exorcism must follow the model Jesus set forth and be administered through the power of His name (Mark 16:17).

The Eternals Movie – An Exorcist’s View

The cinematic indoctrination of a New Age worldview takes a giant leap for occult mankind with the current release of the Marvel Comics film “The Eternals.” This 26th film of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) distributed by Disney (who else) tells the story of the so-called Eternals. This immortal, never-dying race of aliens has been saving humanity for, well, eternity; hence the name The Eternals. Their enemy is also an undying race, the Deviants. But before you think this movie is a biblical allegory of good versus evil, angels versus demons, look closer. This film is a spin-off on the old idea that white witchcraft can be used to fight black magic, that good and evil are just opposite sides of the same spiritual coin.

According to the plot, ten superheroes were sent to earth in 5000 B.C. Their goal was to vanquish the Deviants, who were last killed in 1521. Citing blasphemies and witchcraft in this movie is easy, especially the names of the Eternals. These include the demonic identities listed following. I have personally dealt with each of these mythological gods/demons. Some I’ve encountered on many occasions. You can watch me cast out many of these demons in real life on our Bob Larson Exorcism Channel.

AJAK: This demon is named after the Incan god Tecumotzin, another form of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec demon god requiring human sacrifice. Ajak sometimes fights with Thor, the Nordic demon god I’ve also faced in many exorcisms.

GILGAMESH: This is another demon I have cast out many times. The name comes from an ancient poem based on the Mesopotamian mythological hero of the same name. I can relate from experience that this demon is violent and fierce.

SERSI: This evil spirit is openly declared to be a witch operating in mankind. She has the power of shape shifting and interchanging energy and matter in the MCU. This god/demon is also known to the Greeks as Circe, a Jezebel spirit who supposedly used incantations to turn humans into animals.

THENA: A goddess spirit and cousin to Sersi. She is the personal representative of the idolatrous god Athena, daughter of Zeus. Her name was changed to resemble that of Athena. (She is also connected with the Roman god Minerva.)

IKARIS: This demon god is named after the legendary Icarus, who flew with mechanical, wax wings too close to the sun and died.

MAKKARI: Roman god Mercury. He is the god of speed, divination and commerce (another name for Mammon).

PHASOS:  Also known as Hephaestus, Greek god of fire. He was married to the Greek goddess Aphrodite, a Jezebel demon.

SPRITE: One of the fairies, diminutive demons, commonly worshipped among Eastern Europeans. Another name for this evil spirit is Puck, known to the English as a mischievous, evil demon.

DRUIG and KINGO: These two alone have names not directly related to Roman or Greek mythology with overtly demonic significance.

Other aspects of The Eternals compound the overt occultism with tales of these beings having superhuman strength, powers to manipulate energy, universal mind teachings, sexual relationships between these eternal gods/demons and humans (Nephilim attributes), mind control powers, gods attempting to murder another, and the singularity concept (dense matter, black holes).

The Eternals is a syncretistic stew of Gnosticism, occultism, and pagan mythology. Christ is nowhere mentioned as being present in human history but is replaced by transgender ideology, coarse language, and demonic myths. A pagan priest conducts a wedding ceremony to “the gods.” Leftist ideology in sneaked in by blaming America for Hiroshima instead of the fault being attributed to the emperor worshipping, Shinto beliefs of the Japanese during World War II. Gay lovers passionately kiss, and a sex scene of partially nude hetero lovers is slipped into the plot. The collapse of the Aztec empire is blamed on the Catholic Spaniards, not the human sacrificing Aztecs who outraged even their Mesoamerican contemporaries. In this Marvel Universe there is no transcendent God, no beneficent Supreme Being, no Lord of all who sends his son to save humanity. It is the Eternals who are called up to rescue Earth from the coming apocalypse.

There is no way that a theistic Christian who believes that Jehovah God created and interacted with humanity to bring redemption could countenance this film. If you haven’t seen it, take a wide berth. If you have, repent and cleanse your mind of the cursed content of this film. The Eternals supposedly rescued humanity. But if you watched the film for entertainment purposes, you may need deliverance to rescue you from the Eternals.

“Halloween Kills” is Demonic.

The twelfth film of the Mike Myers “Halloween Kills” franchise was released, in time for—surprise, surprise — Halloween. Anyone in charge of marketing this gore film series would have been fired if promotions had missed the demonic date of October 31. The first “Halloween” slayer movie was originally launched in 1978. It has since spawned novels, comic books, a video game, and assorted merchandise. In the original film, Meyers is a child who kills his sister and is mentally committed. He eventually escapes, 15 years later, to kill again. Most of his murders happen on Halloween, hence the film series’ name.

“Halloween” is part of a popular film genre designed to maximize fear in the observer. Unexpected shock is the main technique used to frighten. Sometimes horror flicks involve psychological manipulation of terror. Other horror plot devices focus on the supernatural. Paranormal horror films delve into themes involving ghosts, vampires, serial killers, cannibalism, homicidal maniacs, and demons. Whatever the technique, torture, gore, and Satanism is usually somewhere in the plot.

The horror film industry markets to a generation of movie goers whose consciences have been seared by onscreen violence. Consequently, there is a need for ever greater stimulation of depravity. Horror films have ceased to be entertainment. Instead, they are a form of indoctrination in dystopian, apocalyptic thinking inspired by demons from the pit. Is the “Halloween” style of films which promote carnage and blood shed something Christians can watch without spiritual contamination?

Romans 12:1-2 tells us to present ourselves as a living sacrifice to God and not be conformed to this world’s values. We are not to be victims of merchandisers who exploit extreme dread and loathing. And what of Philippians 4:8? The horror of “Halloween” doesn’t encourage thoughts that are “pure” and “of a good report” (KJV). Before defending your Christian right to watch horror movies remember that Christ died to deliver us from acts of gratuitous evil. The real world of the 21st century is filled with enough bloodletting and inhumanity without gorging on more of it with horror films.

Some years ago, I was working on a reality show project in Hollywood and met with a film production company. They had a division specializing in horror films. I spent an afternoon discussing our ministry and the reality of demons and exorcism. As I was leaving, one of their staff screen writers spoke with me. Here’s what he said: “I spend my entire day, every day turning out screenplays for horror films, and I was intrigued by what you said about demons. I have to admit, I immerse myself in themes of demonic stuff all day long, and yet I have no real idea where evil comes from.”

That is likely true of most in the horror film industry. They dispense moral shock and awe with only monetary consideration. But movies powerfully affect the morality of popular culture. Second Timothy 1:7 tells us that fear is an evil spirit. Immersion in horror flicks feeds this demon and potentially opens door to it. Christians need to opt-out of hardcore, gore-porn and instead live as Philippians 2:15 says (KJV), blameless and harmless in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation among whom we can shine as lights in a dark, demonic world.
