Incredulity

“Incredulity” is one of those impressive words that carries more weight than its somewhat obscure meaning. It’s defined as the unwillingness to believe something, or more extremely, the willful refusal to accept the truth. I assert that this state of mind is one of the biggest problems facing evangelical Christians. For the most part, born again believers aren’t heretics. They don’t deny the cardinal truths of the gospel, such as the resurrection. And they aren’t apostates, having totally turned from the faith. But they suffer from selective incredulity. They pick and choose the most comfortable parts of the gospel, and remain incredulous of the rest, especially the commands of Christ to cast out demons.

As I’ve stated many times in these blogs, the proof is objectively overwhelming. Followers of Christ can be afflicted by demons to the point of having their sentient identities periodically overwhelmed by indwelling, evil spirits. Luke’s gospel, chapter 8, speaks of the entourage that followed Christ. Mentioned are the 12 disciples and “certain women who had been healed of evil spirits” (Luke 8:2), Mary Magdalene being one of them. We don’t know how many women there were or the facts concerning their exorcisms. The text is silent as to whether they were first delivered and then followed Christ, or whether they became disciples and then were exorcised. What if they were set free after believing in Christ? To most Christians today, such a suggestion reeks of incredulity. As we teach in our International School of Exorcism, the turning of the water into wine in Cana was not necessarily Christ’s first miracle. In Mark, chapter one, it was the exorcism of the godly Jew in the Synagogue on the Sabbath.

The attitude of incredulity also afflicts the idea that we should be casting out demons today. In Matthew 10:1, Mark 6:7, and Luke 9:1-2 Jesus told the twelve disciples to cast out demons. Clearly, Jesus intentionally gave them this mission and they fulfilled this command in action (Mark 6:13). Why aren’t more doing it today? That is truly incredulous.

An encouraging word: OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD

It might be supposed that, because I constantly deal with demons, my life is a little depressing. Imagine what it’s like to regularly uncover the seamier side of life and confront despicable schemes of Satan. How do I survive emotionally and spiritually? By remembering the words of Romans 12:21, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Acts 10:38 says that Jesus “went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil.” The best way to get one’s mind off the overwhelming sense of evil around us is to do good in the name of God.

Psychiatry and Possession

. I am indebted to my good friend, Pastor Steve Strader, in Lakeland Florida, for passing on a fascinating new report entitled “Psychiatrist Admits Mental Illness is Caused by Demonic Possession.” (The full account can be found at: http://yournewswire.com/psychiatrist-admits-mental-illness-is-caused-by-demonic-possession/).

Richard Gallagher, board-certified psychiatrist and professor of clinical psychiatry at New York Medical College, admits to having personally encountered demonic possession. A priest had invited his opinion about a woman who claimed to be a “Queen” of Satan. He relates that this woman spoke multiple languages she didn’t know (a phenomenon I’ve witnessed hundreds of times) and possessed paranormal ability to reveal facts to individuals that no one knew.

Gallagher says he’s consulted on hundreds of possession cases spanning more than two decades. Some cases he observed were medical conditions; but others he acknowledges were possession by “evil spirits.” Gallagher says, “I’ve seen the real thing.” He cites instances of “trance, enormous strength, even levitation and hidden knowledge.” The doctor says, “I have seen more cases of possession than any other physician in the world.” His final word on the subject is, “For any person of science or faith, it should be impossible to turn one’s back on a tormented soul.”

Gallagher is a confessing Catholic, so that made his conclusions a little easier. My question is this: Why should it be any more difficult for an evangelical Christian to accept such things? Our ministry spans more than four decades and more than 40,000 documented cases of exorcism. Our books have numerous accounts of such instances. Our YouTube site hosts nearly 300 live encounters with demonic possession. The people you see are real. Many are known to their pastors as well as families and friends. Their torment and their freedom is documented, and they are living proof of exorcism’s efficacy.

If you have an unbelieving friend, or a skeptical pastor, point him/her to this article. Force the issue to face the facts. Get my books, such as “Dealing with Demons,” “Jezebel,” and “Curse Breaking.” Enroll in our International School of Exorcism. (To enroll CLICK HERE.) Your honest investigation may lead to the deliverance of someone you love, or even yourself. Get out of the Dark Ages of denial regarding demonic activity. Psychiatry and belief in possession are not contradictory and neither are the words “Christian” and “demonized!

An encouraging word: LET GOD JUDGE YOU

“Judge me Lord.” That statement of David in Psalm 26:1 is an appeal to God to vindicate the psalmist’s character, who goes on the say, “I have walked in integrity.” David isn’t asking for mere self-examination. He wants Divine inspection of his character. He is asking the Lord of the Universe, who knows him better than he knows himself, to pass judgment on his life. Are you and I willing to do that? Do we really want God inspecting our motives and actions? We should, because that is the only path to a clean heart.

The Big Move (7-17-17)

THE BIG MOVE – AN UPDATE.
A photo found while packing for the big move.

“The stress is hard. Fighting demons is much easier!” That’s what I said to Laura, my wife, as we talked about uprooting our ministry headquarters in Denver and moving more than 1,000 miles away to Phoenix. But as I was overwhelmed with this challenge, I found something. While rummaging through decades of accumulated stuff, I came across a photo.

STOP LAUGHING! Take your eyes off that guy on the right. Yes, it’s me, 40+ years ago. I want to talk about the girl in the center, Carol. She was my first exorcism. (The story is told in my book LARSON’S BOOK OF SPIRITUAL WARFARE. To order CLICK HERE.) The man on the left was a youth minister who helped me that long night of spiritual warfare.

Seeing that picture, all the pressure of the move faded. Suddenly, it wasn’t about boxes, files, job interviews, and deciding what to toss and what to save. It was about Carol. That precious, young woman who was delivered from demons.

So much has changed since that photo. I’m not talking about the fresh face, the white pants, and the full head of hair. (I told you not to laugh.) It’s about the mission of this ministry that decades haven’t erased. I might not look the same, but I’m still the person in that photo. Still going against the tide of conventional religion. Still taking risks to set the captives free. Still fighting the devil, by God’s grace and with your generous tithes and offerings.
Thank you for your prayers and gifts today to help lift the burden of this move and lift the torment of Satan from those whom God has called us to set free, in His name!

An encouraging word: BREAK CURSES & GET FREE
So much evil is perpetrated because of past sins. My book CURSE BREAKING (order by CLICKING HERE) details the way that the sins of our fathers may incline us to evil. That is an uncomfortable truth for some Christian. And it’s opposed by many preachers. But history and contemporary circumstances bear out this truth. When someone says, “He’s a chip off the old block,” that’s more than an observation of intra-generational behavioral patterns. That comment may be identifying a trans-generational curse. Check this matter of generational curses. Lay aside your prejudices and discover that who you are may be strongly influenced by who your ancestors were. Breaking their curses may be the key to victory and success in your life.

Preposterous Preachers

Let me be clear from the start about two things. I am using the word “preposterous” in the sense of “contrary to reason,” not stupid or ridiculous. Also, I’m going to focus on a particular preacher, because that’s the inspiration for this blog. I was browsing a Christian web site which promoted a sermon called “What every person needs to know about demons.” I am certainly open to learning anything I’ve missed when it comes to this topic. So I clicked on the YouTube link to a message by Francis Chan. To those unfamiliar with Chan, a Chinese-American, he once pastored a California megachurch but resigned to pursue other aspects of his calling, including writing. He’s a popular speaker on the evangelical circuit and widely respected. His words carry weight. So when he says that his audience is about the discover what they need to know about demons, that’s noteworthy.

I listened carefully to the 45 minute sermon, which was basic, elemental theology about Satan and demons. Nothing to rock any evangelical’s boat. And no unique insights that a committed Christian woldn’t already now. The message was way over-hyped and unrevealing. But that’s not my concern. No harm, no foul here. Hey, we need more preachers who at least bring up the subject of demons. Although I don’t personally know Chan, I presume from his spiritual credentials that he’s a good man who is sincerely comittted to spreading the gospel.

So why this blog? Over and over in his message Chan kept saying, and these are direct quotes, “If the Holy Spirit possesses your body, you can’t be possessed by a demon.” And, “If you are indwelt by God, no one else is coming in.” Worse yet, “You have to invite a demon into your life.” As to the later, not true. Check out almost any of our nearly 300 exorcisms posted on YouTube and you’ll witness born-again Christians who were born with demons, because of ancestral curses. These individuals didn’t invite demons into their souls, their ancestors did. We’ve documented more than 40,000 exorcisms, most of them performed on saved, followers of Christ. Christians can and do have demons. No one who actually practices deliverance would take Chan’s position seriously. He may be a good, and even great man of God, but he doesn’t do delivernace. He doesn’t cast out real demons from the kind of people you see on our YouTube Exorcism Channel.

Chan, like many other preposterous preachers (when it comes to to the topic of demons), are greatly used of the Lord in their area of calling. Wonderful, but why must they venture into an area they empirically, historically, and biblically know little about? Why do they insist upon directly or indirectly impugning the motives and methods of other sincere Christians who know from theology and experience that demons can inhabit the souls of believers

Chan’s message about demons wouldn’t fit in Africa. It wouldn’t be considered credible in Asia. Pastors in the Third World know that Christians can have demons. For example, check out a book I’m currently reading, “I Am Not Afraid.” It’s a serious theological study of Christian demonization from a mainistream Lutheran perspective, an epistemological look at demonic activity and exorcism among liturgical believers on the island of Madagascar.

I want to be gracious to preachers like Chan, but this war against exorcism and deliverance has to end. Christians can sometimes be demonized and they do need exorcism! Anyone with doubts needs to enroll in our International School of Exorcism which contains historical and biblical evidence regarding what every person REALLY needs to know about demons. If by chance Chan reads this blog, I offer him a complimentary enrollment.

An encouraging word: SATAN WANTS YOUR FAITH

Faith is a critical element of Christian living. The word “faith” appears countless time in both Old and New Testaments. Without faith, you can’t please God (Heb. 11:6) but with faith you can be saved (Eph. 2:8). Faith brings fulfilled promises, healing, hope, and deliverance. In the hometown of Jesus, he couldn’t do many miracles because of unbelief. It stands to reason that if God wants your faith, Satan does too. Faith in horoscopes, fortune telling, séances, psychics and so on. To whom will you direct your faith?

Exorcism Arising

We just completed our first-ever convention of the International School of Exorcism® (ISE). Scores gathered in Lakeland, Florida for, what was billed as, the largest gathering of trained exorcists in the history of the church. Pictured on the masthead above is a portion of those attending the First Annual International School of Exorcism Convention. They came from across America, as well as Australia, Canada, the Caribbean, and other countries. Their mission was to network, fellowship, worship, and learn. Two intensive days of teaching from our new Advanced Academy of Deliverance® highlighted the official sessions. Testimonies abounded of changed lives, those previously bound by Satan, who have now been delivered and have completed all 30 ISE Courses. They celebrated their training and certification as professionally-trained exorcists. The final session featured praise and worship, followed by an impartation ceremony. Bob, Laura, and the leadership of ISE prayed for special enduement of the Holy Spirit upon those present.

This is just the beginning! In less than three years, the School of Exorcism has trained 600+ students from more than 30 countries. The School has provided them a historical and biblical basis for exorcism, as well as an understanding of the psychological and practical aspects of casting out demons. No such body of information, in such depth, has ever been compiled in all church history; a sad commentary, but a hopeful one, as well. Our mission is to raise up an army of spiritual warriors, theologically, historically, and psychologically grounded; to equip them with knowledge and practical experience, to fulfill the command of Christ to cast out demons in HIS name.

Exorcism is arising. The future is exciting. The possibilities for the Lord are unlimited. Be part of this historic movement by enrolling today, and be at the Second International Convention next year!

An encouraging word: GOD SITS FOREVER

The Lord sits as King forever” (Psalm 29:10). What a magnificent thought. Satan may be the “god of this world,” (2 Corinthians 4:4), but that position is temporary. From eternity past to eternity future, it is God whose reign has no end. Being seated is a sign of royal power and dominion. He has no need to strive, to walk about persuading, as the devil does (Job 1:7). The Lord has spoken through His word. He has acted through the sending of His son. And now the Almighty sits, awaiting the completion of all things. He reigns forever!
