Most have understood our recent missions to war-torn Ukraine. Supporters of our ministry comprehend the vision to, each year, train more than 1,000 future pastors to cast out demons. But response to our upcoming Exorcism Invasion of Europe hasn’t had equal enthusiasm. England? Norway? Belgium? Netherlands? Ireland? Can’t I find enough demons at home without the expense of traveling across the ocean? Surely, the unspeakable tragedy in Manchester, England this past week silences any questions about why we’re taking deliverance to the great cities of Europe. The cowardly, terrorist killing of 23 young people at a pop concert forcefully emphasizes how important it is to confront Satan and his demons. Have we so soon forgotten the Belgium airport bombing of March 2016, when32 people were killed and 300 were injured? Or the 2011 slaughter in Norway when Anders Breivik murdered 69 youth at a summer camp and then set off a bomb in Oslo?

Combatting the demons behind mass murder and terrorism is needed to stop the killing. Governments must be vigilant. Security agencies and police must do their jobs. But this is ultimately a spiritual war. That’s why I’m going to Europe to drive back the devil. If we don’t, who will? No other ministry of deliverance has been so favored by the secular media and able to have a nationwide impact. God has called us for such a time as this, and we cannot stand by while innocent children are murdered. Salman Abedi, the Manchester murderer. was demon possessed. How else can we explain such an unspeakable crime? This coming Friday night, June 2, I’ll be in London, England, to take on the Powers of Darkness that want to destroy the nation of Great Britain. An encouraging word: HE IS YOUR LORD!

“LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth,” David declared in Psalm 8:1. Focus on the word “our.” The Lord God Jehovah, creator of the entire universe, ruler of all thrones and dominions, the I AM is OUR Lord. That’s a pretty big God and a very wonderful relationship. Your God is not like the Brahma of Hinduism who arose out of a lotus flower, or the Buddha of eastern mysticism who had to sit under a bodhi tree to get enlightened. Before anything was, He existed, and He now calls you his friend. His name is majestic, and He is OUR Lord. He is YOUR Lord.

Here’s something you may not know. As an exorcist, I spend considerable time ministering to those addicted to all kinds of drugs. Because of this experience, I’ve observed several things about the process of addiction. First, the effect of drugs on people behaviorally and spiritually. Second, which drugs are the worst. The answer to the latter is easy, meth. It burns the brain. It induces psychosis and all kinds of mania and paranoia. Its effect is lasting, even long after a meth addict has become a Christian. But in second place to meth is pot. Weed. Marijuana. It’s a killer, but not like heroin or crack. It’s a slow killer, and it’s the drug that is a gateway to all others. Almost 100% of all demonized addicts I’ve encountered, and they number in the hundreds, started out with marijuana as their initial drug of choice. And get this. My observational data reveals that more people get demons from pot than any other drug!

Case in point. I recently did a Personal Spiritual Encounter with a pothead, a Christian, who vehemently defended his right as a Believer to smoke weed. I directed him to an online entry of the journal “Psychology Today,” one of the top 10 consumer magazines. In an article entitled “History of Cannabis in India” the magazine states, “Cannabis has a long history . . . in the Vedas, sacred Hindu texts.” The article further discloses something which I’ve known for years, namely, that marijuana (ganja, bhang) was believed by Hindus as far back as 4,000 years ago to be inhabited by “guardian angels” (read that demons). The article further states that, “The god Shiva is frequently associated with cannabis.” (Shiva, known as the god of death and destruction, is one of the three principle deities in Hinduism.)

More could be said, but isn’t this enough for any Christian to think twice about claiming Christ and smoking weed? Yet some do. I’ve met these defenders of getting high and heard all their fallacious arguments. Countless times demons manifesting in drug addicts have admitted that they got there by the gateway of marijuana and pushed their host on to harder drugs. In case the reader is too purple-hazed to get my point, pot will get you demons and those demons will spur you on to even worse drugs to seal the doom of your addiction. To avoid the demons of weed, don’t take the first whiff. That “sweet leaf” may come wafting your way with a demon you didn’t plan on getting.

An encouraging word: CHRIST IS THE ANSWER

Every day we hear about troubled souls turning to New Age quackery for help. It may be crystals, sweat lodges, vision quests, hypnosis, past life therapy or some other silliness. The story is always the same. It helps for a while but then things get worse. That’s what they tell me when they come for an exorcism. If these deceived individuals would have sought Jesus first they could have saved themselves a lot of trouble. These occult diversions don’t help and only increase the torment. CHRIST IS THE ANSWER! He promised, “My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you” (John 14:27).

The media often asks me, “How dangerous is it to be an exorcist?” I never think much about it. I’ve been gouged and bloodied a few times. Scratched. Spat on. Punched. Knocked down. Knives and guns pulled on me. Flipped over backwards and thrown across the room. I have a few minor scars. The worst was getting my ribs broken several years ago in Africa. But no permanent injuries. Considering I’ve done more than 40,000 documented exorcisms over four decades, that’s not too bad. God has protected me. Angels have rescued me, I’m sure. But it can be dangerous duty.

One of the most violent exorcisms was some years ago in Australia. It took 13 men, hanging on to various body parts, to control one man manifesting demons. Just a couple of weeks ago in Ukraine, a 16-year-old kid could barely be restrained by five huge men. He knocked me over, tore my suit coat, and we ended up rolling around on the floor as I exorcised the demons. I’ve seen a woman weighing little more than 100 pounds pick up a 250-lb. man with one arm and fling him aside. And, yes, I’ve seen a few levitations.

Most of the time, deliverance is not nearly as violent and paranormal as Hollywood imagines. But it can be dangerous if precautions aren’t taken. I bring this up because several recent exorcisms have been particularly dangerous. What would you expect? Demons foment wars, murder, domestic disputes, rape, and assorted crimes of violence. They possessed Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and assorted despots. They help organize MS-13 gangs. Demons inhabit jihadists who behead the innocent. And they stalk the mean streets of South Chicago.

Being an exorcist may be dangerous duty, but I’m still alive and have never had a life-threatening injury. God has kept me safe. And if you’re called to deliverance ministry, He’ll keep you safe, so long as you’re prayed up and don’t do something foolhardy. So, pick up the Sword of the Spirit, and enroll in our School of Exorcism. Put on the Armor of God according to Ephesians chapter six, and get ready to do battle against the devil. I promise you this. You’ll be blessed doing deliverance, more than any other endeavor for the Kingdom of Christ. Want to know what’s really dangerous? Pretending Satan is not real or denying the havoc he wreaks in the lives of Christians. That’s REALLY dangerous. And deadly!

An encouraging word: STAYING POSITIVE

Someone commented to me recently, “The thing I most admire about you is that with all you’ve been through you keep a positive attitude about the future.” I was humbled to hear that; but it is true. In recent years, I’ve faced death several times and survived; first with acute diverticulitis in 2011 and then a heart attack in 2012. Add to that the struggles of pursuing an often-misunderstood ministry resulting in ever-present financial challenges. But how could I be otherwise than positive. I’ve been promised that “no weapon formed against you will prosper” (Is. 54:17) and “if God is for us, who can be against us” (Rom. 8:31). The secret to staying positive is basing your future on God’s Word, not your fears.

You may not realize it, but many prominent deliverance ministers got their start from our ministry. Some used to listen to me on the radio when, for 20 years, I hosted a nationally syndicated talk show. (Often I would cast out demons, live and on-the-air, remember?) Other ministers read my books and followed suit. Many are alumni of our International School of Exorcism. When I started casting out demons, there was no one to mentor me. There were very few books on the topic of casting out demons and no online School of Exorcism. (There was no Internet.) That’s all changed. Hardly a day goes by without my hearing of someone using our teachings and methods of deliverance. A few credit the source of their knowledge. Most don’t. That’s OK. What’s important is that ministry is taking place and people are being set free. That’s my goal. I’d clone myself a million times if I could, at least the deliverance part. It brings me joy to see so many who have followed in our footsteps. We need many more like Anton, pictured below. I met him during our recent Ukraine mission. He had a testimony to share with me.

Copycat deliverance is all right. It’s what we want. It’s what this ministry is dedicated to doing. It’s why we launched our online International School of Exorcism. Our desire is to copycat what Jesus did, what the disciples did, and what the Early Church did. We strive to do “do what Jesus did” and we encourage others to do the same.

An encouraging word: HAVE A DUAL PERSPECTIVE

In these times of economic chaos, recurring incidents of mass murder and terrorism, and ever more gross indecency, it’s hard not to be discouraged. We know that the Bible tells us in Luke 21:28 to “look up,” but it’s difficult not to look down sometimes. We need a spiritual dual perspective; being aware of the evil around us and also seeing that grace still does “much more abound” (Rom. 5:20). Learn to look up awaiting your redemption while also being conscious of the need to overcome evil with good every deed.
