The subtle sophistry of psychics

IMPORTANT NOTE: Last week I started a blog about those who seek out psychics. You need first to read that critical information before reading further below. To read “Who Seeks Psychics, Part #1, CLICK HERE.

According to the Federation of Certified Psychics and Mediums, women who seek psychics are willing to spend up to $5,000 to get information (375,000 women have spent more than this amount); 51% of women want to put a spell or curse on someone; 69% of those seeking psychics are women; 53% see a psychic more than once; 97% of psychics would not give a refund if their prognostication were wrong. And, this stat is interesting: 99.99% of all psychics believe in “God.”

“Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them,” warns Leviticus 19:31. Other Old Testament warnings are found in Leviticus 20:6, Isaiah 8:19, and Jeremiah 27:9, to cite just a few references. Consulting psychics is a spiritually deadly business. It can cost you a fortune, it can cost you your soul. It may take your sanity in the process. I know, I’ve ministered to many hundreds of victims of this subtle sophistry. By seeing a psychic you may or may not get any insights into the unknown, but you certainly can come away with demons you didn’t bargain for.

An encouraging word:  BEWARE A LITTLE LEAVEN.

Galatians 5:9 warns, in the NIV, “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” The classic KJV eloquently states, “A little leaven leavens the whole lump.” However stated, the intent of the Apostle Paul is to warn about letting even a little ungodliness or sinful proclivities to enter our lives. It only takes a little evil to spoil a lot of good. One unkind word can cancel the positive effect of many accolades. One immoral lapse can ruin a lifetime of rectitude. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to show you the hidden yeast of ungodliness in your life before it takes over the whole batch of your thoughts and actions.

Before you call a psychic consider this

Who sees psychics? I meet a lot of individuals who’ve seen psychics, and then they end up coming to me to get rid of the demons the psychics gave them. These seekers of occult information are all ages and education. A variety of religious backgrounds. Some are curiosity seekers, but the majority felt the need to lift the veil shielding the unknown to find some deeply personal information. A love interest. A dearly departed loved one. A prediction about a job. Information about a serious sickness. Most were desperate for answers not given by doctors, counselors, or clergy.

An organization calling itself the American Federation of Certified Psychics and Mediums posts on their web site some very interesting statistics. (“Certified?” By whom isn’t clear.) Let me first say I’m not certain how trustworthy such self-aggrandizing data may be. After all, these are people who, by biblical definition, are knowingly or unwittingly in league with the devil. Also, many are outright charlatans. Still, the statistics they provide, if anywhere near accurate, are revealing.

My next blog will reveal further fascinating information about the nether world of psychics and those who pay the financial and spiritual price for seeing them.

An encouraging word: DISCERN THE BEST AND PURE

Paul’s prayer for the Philippians was that they would be able to discern what is “best” and “pure” (Philippians 1:10). These are goals we don’t often seen in the world around us. Instead of the best, people seek the quickest and most self-aggrandizing. Instead of what is pure, too many seek what is self-satisfying and erotically arousing. In respect of your biblical beliefs, why not make it a goal today to achieve your spiritual best, whether in Bible reading or conquering some bad behavior? Strive also for your purity, not just in conquering lustful challenges, but in your thoughts and emotions toward others.

Find your painful memories!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Last week I published a blog entitled, “Retrieving Hidden Memories.” It’s crucial that you read that blog before proceeding further with the below, part #2. (To read CLICK HERE.)

For years I have taught through our Do What Jesus Did® deliverance teams, and now our International School of Exorcism®, the importance of digging deeply into the pain of one’s past. Perhaps you’ve heard some of the phrases I’ve coined to emphasis this:

  • Go to the point of the pain.
  • To heal, you must reveal.
  • Get your stuff before your stuff gets you.

As the blog last week pointed out, there is now scientific, neurological evidence that the ministry of Inner Healing is vital for spiritual health. “Neuroscience News” recently reported that a crucial key to maintaining sound mental health is “returning the brain to the same state of consciousness as when the memory was encoded.” If that memory was the result of physical, sexual, or spiritual abusive, and it remains unprocessed, it can lead to various forms of mental breakdown. In our School of Exorcism, we teach how to accomplish this “returning the brain” in a spiritually therapeutic way that brings Christ into the context of past abuse. “Neuroscience News” points out that two amino acids, glutamate and GABA, must be kept in equilibrium. If imbalanced, the mind can become aroused or sleepy, alert or sedated — even delusional. It turns out that these receptors actually encode memories of a fear-inducing event and then store them away, hidden from consciousness.

If you, or someone you know, has experienced traumatic pain in the past, please get help. Find a clinician who works in this area of mental health or a caring pastor/priest who can begin the listening process. Call my office to arrange a computer Skype session; meet with me at our Center for Spiritual Freedom in Phoenix; or get to a city on my seminar schedule for a one-on-one Personal Spiritual Encounter. DO SOMETHING to address hidden hurt and past emotional pain and receive Inner Healing from Jesus.

An encouraging word: GOD SEES THE HEART

In my personal Bible studies, I’ve been lately reviewing the Old Testament. Right now I’m in First Samuel. I was reminded again of that classic passage when the Lord chose David as the future king of Israel. Lest the prophet Samuel choose the wrong man, the Lord told him, “Do not look at his appearance . . . the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). That’s what God sees when he looks at you. You can’t dress up your sins with outward displays of spirituality. You can’t overcome your moral inconsistencies with a phony exterior. You may trick people for a while, but the Lord will never be fooled.

Inner Healing is scientific

INNER HEALING: The supernatural, spiritual remediation of the earliest, and deepest, wounds of the soul.

The definition is mine. The designation is not. “Inner Healing” as a descriptive term didn’t originate with me, but God has allowed our ministry to take the concept to new levels. Inner healing (IH) is psycho-spiritual intervention that usually deals with traumatic experiences, often occurring at a young age, which have deeply affected an individual’s ability to have emotional wholeness. Such trauma may be an opening for spiritual oppression and outright demonic possession. IH is generally integral to the deliverance process. Many times demons cannot be expelled until IH has taken place. Unfortunately, this aspect of ministry has been ignored, neglected, and demeaned by most evangelical churches. Some even question whether it has any spiritually therapeutic value. Those of us in deliverance ministry know that IH is important and crucial, and IT WORKS!

But is it scientifically supportable? A recent report in “Neuroscience News” is most revealing. In an article entitled “Retrieving Hidden Traumatic Memories,” stressful past experiences, particularly childhood abuse, are described as hiding like a “shadow in the brain.” If not properly accessed and treated, the article warns that these suppressed (and often dissociated) memories can cause “debilitating psychological problems, such as post-traumatic stress disorder or dissociative disorders.” These are all things that we’ve been teaching for years. Now there is science to back this up. Dr. Jelena Radulovic, the Dunbar Professor in Bipolar Disease at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine has published research into fear-related memories (which would include sexual abuse and Satanic Ritual Abuse). Dr. Radulovic points out that the problem with helping patients suffering from hidden, past trauma is that they can’t remember the abuse that is at the root of their current psychiatric symptom. And having that information is a key to getting better. The Dr. proposes a solution: “Return the brain to the same state of consciousness as when the memory was encoded.” Or, as I teach in our International School of Exorcism®, “Go to the point of the pain.” Relive the trauma in the altered context of Christ’s healing.

More in my next blog about the biochemical process that neuroscientists have discovered that lies at the root of Inner Healing.

An encouraging word:  SHINE AS A LIGHT.

A friend of mine was recently going through a difficult time because of the immoral environment in which he lived. I reminded him of Paul’s words to the Philippians (2:15), “Become blameless . . . without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation . . . shine as lights in the world.” You and I can’t always change what’s around us, especially the darkness of sin and moral perversity. But we can “shine.” We can live godly and let that be our silent rebuke. If you are discouraged by the crookedness of people and things around you, what a great time to be a blameless Believer to the lost who live without Christ.

People get strange ideas about demons.

People have strange ideas about demons. Usually it’s not their fault. I blame Christian leaders for the lack of information and very bad information. These is so little teaching about spiritual warfare in Christian circles that is allows some awful ideas to circulate. The silence on this topic means that errors are seldom rationally addressed. Even among people who believe in and practice the ministry of deliverance, some odd issues arise. I could write pages on what I’ve encountered, but here are a few misperceptions and misconceptions.

  • If I’m present during a deliverance, one of those demons might jump on me.  No. Demons only enter by spiritual legal right. If you are living for Christ you can’t arbitrarily get a demons, even by being around an exorcism session.
  • Bad things have happened to people who do deliverance. The movie “The Exorcist” helped to further this myth. In the film, the demon only leaves by entering the exorcist who then kills himself. I’ve been credited with doing more documented exorcisms than anyone, and I’m very much alive and doing well.
  • Try to cast out demons and they’ll get even with you.  Who is more powerful, anyway? Two wage spiritual warfare you need to walk in faith. Only if you give in to the intimidation of demons by fear will they be able to strike back with any effectiveness.
  • Don’t cast out demons unless you are thoroughly trained. Of course, that’s preferable. That’s the purpose of our International School of Exorcism®, to train Christian leaders and lay people in the most effective procedures to set the captives free. But even if you don’t yet have all the best knowledge available, do what you can when you encounter evil spirits.  After all, it’s the authority in the name of Jesus that wins the war against Satan.

An encouraging word:  GIVE GLORY TO HIS NAME.

Psalm 29:2 tells us to give the Lord the “glory due to His name.” What an inspiring thought. Far too many all around us curse and take His name in vain. When something goes wrong, if a situation is irritating, if some physical or emotional injury happens, God’s name is the first to be uttered in disgust. Doing this, no matter how angry the person may be, brings a curse back on the head of the one who utters such spiritual invectives. The next time you are prone to anger, instead of hurling some vicious vituperation against the Lord, give glory to His name and see how quickly that changes things.

Let’s exorcise America!

Back on July 2 of this year I wrote a blog on how Catholics in Mexico were fed up with the violence of drug cartels and corruption in society. In response, they confronted Satan at the cathedral of San Luis Potosi. Cardinal Juan Sandoval Iniguez, the archbishop emeritus of Guadalajara, performed an Exorcismo Magno, a huge exorcism on the whole country of Mexico. (To read that blog Exorcise America CLICK HERE.) Regardless of what you, the reader, may think about Catholic exorcism or the efficacy of such a ritual, consider for a moment the general idea of Christian leaders declaring war on the devil in a very public way. I don’t know if Mexico is any better off for the efforts of Cardinal Iniguez, but his actions beg the question of why Protestant, evangelical leaders in our country are so mealy-mouthed about confronting the devil with spiritual warfare?

Here are my thoughts on this whole idea:

  1. Would some kind of unified, congregational exorcism/deliverance prayer by Christian pastors really do any good? Who knows? It hasn’t been tried. What could it hurt?
  2. Wouldn’t this be an opening for the media to make fun of Believers? As if they don’t do that on a regular basis every day on TV and in movies. What are evangelical pastors REALLY afraid of?
  3. Suppose it gets a lot of press, even negative reports, wouldn’t that a least make people more aware that there are actually Christians who believe in a real devil and are willing to confront that evil? Because so many pastors seldom preach about the devil and hell, the implied consensus is that the church no longer takes such things seriously.
  4. Don’t set the bar so high it’s unattainable. Don’t claim that if we exorcise America that revival will follow immediately or that there will be mass-scale conversions of those in the porn industry or corrupt politicians. Simply make the goal a first step in beginning the process of pushing back against Satan on a national scale.
  5. Isn’t it time to declare war on all the occultism and superstition in our culture? A national exorcism isn’t going to save the soul of every American or make psychics shut down overnight. But we can begin to declare territorial authority over the evil that results in the shootings, racial injustices, rampant societal sexualizing, and emboldened atheism.

Have we forgotten that we are in a war for the soul of our society? Who is on the Lord’s side and willing to say so in a very public way by rebuking and binding ALL the forces of evil that want to destroy our cherished religious freedoms?

An encouraging word: THE HAND OF THE LORD

The Prophet Samuel’s words to Israel are a warning to all today: If you do not obey the Lord, and if you rebel against his commands, his hand will be against you (1 Samuel 1:12). These are stern words that we all need to take personally. Such a dire pronouncement has individual importance. Which of the Lord’s commandments are you avoiding or rebelling against? It may not be obvious, but look closer at issues of failing to forgive, harboring bitterness, or secretly wanting revenge. The Lord wants to be on your side to bless you. Don’t let your thoughts and actions turn His hand against you.

How many must die?

How many more must die? How many more innocent lives will end before we “get it?” Something is terribly wrong in our country. We’ve barely sentenced James Holmes to life in prison for killing 12 and wounding 70 in a Colorado theater; we’ve just started to make sense of the Chattanooga shooting of five military personnel; we’ve tried to understand the senseless slaughter of nine church goers in Charleston. And then it happened again, this weekend. Details are still sketchy, but we do know that a man in Houston, Texas murdered an entire family of eight, mother and father plus six children, one aged six. The man, David Conley, was apparently mad at the mother, a former “domestic partner” for having changed the locks on the doors. (He had once lived there with her.)

The chart above is telling. The overall trajectory of shooting incidents is on the rise, a fact attested to by anyone who follows the news headlines regularly. Of course, guns are always blamed, but that doesn’t explain why killings are increasing. “Evil men will go from bad to worse,” 2 Timothy 3:13 warns us of the End Times. That happens when the moral restraints of society reach such a low point that demonic forces are no longer hindered from their evil. An exorcism is a microcosm of the battle between good and evil. God wins when the godly refuse to yield ground to Satan. During a deliverance I could stop, walk away, and surrender by default. Of course, I refuse to do that and persist in the battle against the devil. In our world today, too many indulge in such a cesspool of degenerate filth that there is nothing to stop demons from running roughshod. Refusing to wage true spiritual warfare, most churches have thrown up their hands in surrender. If we made IN THE NAME OF JESUS the battle cry of our nation and churches, there were would be less impetus for evil to further murder in America.

An encouraging word: DON’T FRET

“Do not fret because of evil men,” Psalm 24:19 encourages us. Frankly, that’s hard to do. As society departs further and further from biblical principles, it’s difficult not to become worried. But the Bible tells us that the evil will not ultimately triumph. The following verse in Psalms says, “The evil man has no future hope . . . the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.” So, relax a little. Don’t let down your defenses or fail to fight wickedness wherever you encounter it, but don’t fret.

Have you been bound to evil?

Monday of this week, my blog discussed the topic of so-called soul-ties, (To read that blog, CLICK HERE.) This blog further develops that topic. As I discussed in the earlier blog, such bonds may be marital, sexual, fraternal, emotional, spiritual, relational, or any other number of amalgamations that closely knit together two or more individuals in a common purpose. That’s not necessarily bad. If the intent of the co-joining is equally yoked and within proper boundaries, great good can come of it. Deuteronomy 32:30 tells us that if one can chase a thousand, then two can put ten thousand to flight. In other words, a godly soul-tie exponentially increases the value of combined actions. This principle is also true when the action taken by the coupling is ungodly. Demonic bonds of the soul can be spiritually devastating.

Here are some examples:

  • A casual sexual encounter with a partner carrying generational curses of witchcraft.
  • A businessperson who forms an alliance with an associate having dubious ethics.
  • A spouse who remains in an adulterous marriage when all efforts to reform have failed.
  • An adult who experienced sexual abuse from an unrepentant parent and who, out of a misguided sense of honor, keeps close contact with that parent.
  • A parishioner who remains under the teaching and authority of a pastor who has morally lapsed and has sought no accountable restoration.
  • A member of an organization such as Freemasons who is bound by soul-tie, demonic oaths

This list could be much more exhaustive, but the dangers of not severing a satanic soul-tie are almost innumerable. If you find yourself in such bondage, take these steps. First, extricate yourself immediately from the soul-bonded relationship. Second, second seek godly counsel and deliverance. (Call now to schedule a Personal Spiritual Encounter or Skype Encounter with me. Call 303-980-1511.) Finally, beware the spiritual oppression which will exert pressure to keep you in the soul-ties.

NOTE: Bob’s books JEZEBEL and CURSE BREAKING have valuable information to further your understanding of ungodly soul-ties ORDER NOW by CLICKING HERE.)

An encouraging word:  NO OTHER GOD.

Ours is an age of syncretism and compromise. A time of live and let live, especially in the religious area. You’ve heard it stated many ways, such as, “There is one god and many roads to him.” But Deuteronomy 32: 39 is emphatic: “There is no God besides me.” The revealed deity of Scripture, Jehovah, has no competitors, no pretenders to His throne. To the inclusive religionist who wants to reduce all gods to irrelevant sameness, this scripture is a major hurdle. It leaves no room for accommodation. All other so-called gods are false. They are deceivers, unworthy of worship. Don’t be taken in by those CO-EXIST bumper stickers. There is only one God and his ultimate expression is in Jesus, the Christ.

Did your ex give you demons?

I didn’t originate the term “soul-tie.” I personally prefer “soul-bond” as being more descriptive. But for our purposes, we’ll go with soul-tie here. To those not familiar with the term, it describes a powerful connection between two individuals that goes beyond normal human interaction. It’s not a biblical designation, but the general idea is there. Take for example David and King Saul’s son Jonathan. (“He [Jonathan] loved him [David] as he loved his own soul.” – 1 Samuel 20:17) Soul-ties can exist between spouses, lovers, friends, business associates, cult members, organizational adherents, or most any pairing of two or more people with a significant common interest. Such bonds aren’t necessarily evil, but the nature of a soul-tie is that whatever traits/likes/dislikes/preferences/desires etc. one has becomes a soul-part of the other. It’s from this that I’ve coined the phrase STD – “spiritually/soul-transmitted-demons.”

In a recent blog, I revealed how sexual unions may pass on the actual genetics of a long-disengaged partner (“Generational Curses Through Sex”, July 20, 2015. TO READ, CLICK HERE.) Unfortunately, the effects of a soul-tie can be felt long after a relationship has ended, even generations after. Soul-ties are particularly pernicious when the bond is sexual. Those who have had numerous sexual partners are at risk for all the curses and demons of every person with whom they’ve had intercourse, and all the sexual partners of each their sexual partners, and so on and so on ad infinitum. That’s a lots of spiritual baggage in the name of love, or whatever. Have sex with a prostitute and you run the risk of getting every demon of every individual he/she has consorted with. I witness this in ministry constantly. Almost every day I pray with someone who has demons they got from some kind of soul-tie.

If I’ve described you, don’t despair. Soul-ties can be easily broken, even trans-generational ones, by prayers of renunciation. These prayers are printed in detail in my book CURSE BREAKING: Freedom from the bondage of generational sin. (TO ORDER, CLICK HERE.) My next blog will explore this topic of Soul-Ties in even greater depth.

An encouraging word: WHERE IS GOD?

Jesus said, “Where I am, you may also be there” (John 14:3). What a great promise. Christ was speaking of His ascent to the Father. In the verse before he speaks of the “many mansions” in heaven which are prepared for the inhabitation of all those who have trusted in Him. I’ve heard people derisively declare, “Where’s God?” They are usually upset that the Lord didn’t seem to be present at a particular time in their lives. What’s the answer to that question? God is in heaven, and if you also want to go there, I have a warning. You may not make it by challenging His patience and love by angry accusations.

Murder Demons Afoot

They were states apart with decades of difference. Last week, Bever, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, stabbed to death five family members, his parents and siblings ages 12, 7, and 5. Houser opened fire in a Lafayette, Louisiana movie house and killed two, injuring nine. Houser was 59, Bever 18. There were some similarities. According to reports, both were church-goers. (Bever was home-schooled.) Both were from conservative southern states. Both perpetrated white-on-white crime. This wasn’t drug-fueled, urban city violence or the work of satanic cults. These were essentially lone killers, though Bever may have had help from a brother. Similarities end there. Houser had a history of mental illness and irrational outbursts of anger. Houser shot himself. Bever proudly confessed and said that he planned more killings if not caught.

To say that murder demons were afoot in these tragedies is an understatement. These were not crimes of revenge for injustices of grievous magnitude. These were not retaliations for direct personal threats, acts of revenge for the torment of another. Lives were not taken for financial gain or the result of terrorist indoctrination. These crimes were truly senseless with unimaginable motives. They were clearly demonic, out and out evil for the sake of evil.

Why? Though the facts may differ, one has to wonder if the moral restraints of our culture have become so weakened that evil spirits of many stripes are taking advantage of these growing absences of common decency. Yes, ISIS is an international threat, and saber-rattling in Eastern Europe is cause for concern. But our own backyard is apparently just as dangerous.  And it will be until Christians rise up and declare war on the devil. One way that you can do that is by enrolling in our online, International School of Exorcism®. What you learn could save a life.

An encouraging word: TRUST AND BE DELIVERED

Have you failed God and wondered if He would take you back? Have you fallen short so many times you’re ready to give up? Israel did the same thing, over and over again. But the Psalmist declared of the Jews, “They cried to you, and were delivered. They trusted in you and were not ashamed” (Psalm 22:5). If the constantly failing Children of Israel could do this, so can you. Don’t believe the lies of Satan that God has forsaken you. He is ready to help you out of your troubles. Trust in him, put away your shame, and He will deliver YOU.
